Everyone knows that children bring a special sense of joy and wonder to Christmas. Greenview Place residents started off the week with an adorable concert of carols from the kindergarteners next door at Saint Luke Academy. They put their little hearts into singing such classics as “Silent Night” and “Away in a Manger.” Residents and kids even broke out their air guitars to play along with “Feliz Navidad.” Finally, the children passed out Christmas cookies and enjoyed sharing them with their honorary grandparents. “I love coming to any event with the children, they bring such spirit when they visit,” said one resident after the concert.
Later in the week, Greenview Place received a visit from the jolly soul himself. Santa came a few days early to surprise residents with their Christmas gifts. Kris Kringle even stopped to take a few shots with residents who wanted relive their childhood and get a picture with Santa! You could see the joy in their faces as St. Nick made his way to every table to find out which residents had been naughty and which had been nice.
Later in the day, residents were ready to party down with musical guests NowStalgia. They sipped hot chocolate while being serenaded with classic Christmas songs that everyone knows and loves, from” Rudolph” to “Santa Baby.” Some folks even had a chance to steal the spotlight by dancing and singing along. Christmas never looked so good!
Does it seem like we have partied a lot? Well, we are just getting started. On Christmas Eve, residents will be celebrating with a pizza party and invitation to join the Saint Luke students as they perform the Nativity Story. Then, on Christmas Day the celebration continues with Christmas games, gifts and “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Thank you all for stopping by our blog this year. We at Greenview Place want to wish you a Merry Christmas and wonderful 2012.
