Take a short walk down North Avenue, and you’ll find The Second City Theater, which is home to the nation’s most respected comedy institution. The list of well-known celebrities who have been at Second City is too long to mention. Our neighbor is a Chicago landmark – and we have our own Second City star living right here at Renaissance North!
This month, our featured resident, Ryan Cooke, will graduate from the Second City Comedy Writing Program. To cap his scholarly success, Ryan and his wonderfully talented classmates have put together all their favorite scenes in a Second City-style revue. This compilation represents a year’s worth of sketch writing.
For those of you who haven’t spent an evening being entertained at Second City, a typical sketch revue is similar to an episode of Saturday Night Live. It’s a series of comedic scenes that last anywhere from one second to five minutes, typically speaking to what’s going on in the world today.
Be sure to get your tickets now for Ryan’s revue! You can find him at Donny’s Skybox in Piper’s Alley the first four Fridays in March. Showtime for “The World Still Looks Bright To Me (Sort Of)” is 7:30PM. Get your tickets now because these shows often sell out.
Don’t you want to be able to say you’ve seen The [Renaissance] North Star up close and personal?
