Shred this!

Hey, Wicker Park Renaissance folks! Are you thinking about how to be a good steward for our community and for our planet? Are you concerned about personal identity security, too? We’ll, we’ve got just the thing for you.

We’re all invited to join in the Wicker Park & Bucktown Community Shredding and e-Recycling Day, which will take place Saturday, May 12th, from 10am – 12pm in the Jewel/Kmart Parking lot on Ashland (just 1 block north of Division Street).

Are you worried about identity theft? Are you interested in protecting the environment and conserving natural resources? Then you should to participate in the WPB Chamber of Commerce Shredding and Recycling Days!

Paper shredding will be conducted by Secure EcoShred, so gather your old financial records, cancelled checks, credit card statements and watch them get destroyed in a matter of minutes, right before your very eyes. Thanks to Secure EcoShred (a Chicago-based, woman-owned portable document destruction company), you can have all of your sensitive paperwork shredded for free! There is a 3 box/bag limit; but you can have additional material shredded for $5 per box/bag.

Get rid of your old electronics – don’t let them end up in the landfill! PC Rebuilders & Recyclers (PCRR) will be on hand to collect unwanted computer equipment. All hard drives are wiped clean by PCRR; full reporting is available upon request. PCRR refurbishes retired computers for schools, non-profits and homes. Systems that cannot be refurbished will be recycled responsibly. PCRR will accept computers, laptops, monitors, printers, computer cables, mice, keyboards, fax machines, TVs, VCRs, DVD and MP3 players, video game consoles, cell phones and video equipment.

YOU can make a difference. Together we can do so much.
